Artist Statement
As an artist I have always enjoyed odd and Bizarre works of art. The unsettling feeling is very unique and sticks with a person for a long time. Much of my works are derived from my own fears and experiences from now reaching all the way back to my childhood. Making these concepts feel playful links it to my own childhood but also makes it easier for them to digest the art. One of the ideas I enjoy representing the most is the circle of life and how much of nature is often ignored because it is seen as “gross” or “scary” and showing that these ideas are not as scary as they think because it is another part of nature.

Another one of the common materials I use in my art is rough/difficult fabric as well as raw canvas. Many of these connect to my childhood and the textures I interacted with, common materials are jeans, carpet, towels, fabric and fur. These textures connect. Overall my goal is to connect with the audience and share my own life experiences and feelings in a way that the audience can’t ignore either because of the materials, concept or style I want the viewer to see what I am seeing.
